- 8 slices of day-old bread brioche preferred
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar packed
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar for topping
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon for topping
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter melted (for topping)
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 12-cup muffin tin.
Cut bread into 1-inch cubes and divide evenly among muffin cups.
In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugars, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
Pour custard mixture evenly over bread cubes in muffin cups.
Let sit for 5 minutes to allow bread to absorb custard.
Mix remaining cinnamon and sugar in a small bowl.
Brush tops with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar mixture.
